A WOMAN AND HER WORDS is based on the true story of Tahirih, a woman whose compelling life has been hidden from the world until now. Actress/recording artist Tadia brings Tahirih to life and becomes the 19th century legal scholar and Persian poetess with haunting power. Ongoing historical events of the nineteenth century Western world are juxtaposed against the dramatic circumstances of Tahirih's life in ancient Persia, allowing the audience a more global context with which to relate to the story of an Eastern woman who defied convention. It is the quest for truth that grounds the lead character in her story, and Tahirih's ultimate triumph leaves the audience feeling empowered. Tahirih's heroic life demonstrated her enduring commitment to an ethical imperative for equality for all when she herself did not enjoy that right. Her courage remains an inspiration to all.
